Yesterday my little cousin, who is the youngest of the three I’m watching over the summer, came up to me during the morning when everyone was getting around and getting ready for the day and asked, “Do you own a kiss?” I was a bit thrown off and didn’t know what to say except, “What?” So he asked again, only this time with a modifier, “Do you own a kiss like from peter pan?” It was then that I realized he had been looking in the bag of sewing stuff I had set down. So I laughed and answered, “Yes, but it’s called a thimble.” He smiled and said,”Oh.” I always find it fascinating knowledge is something that must be gained, but depending on the source you receive it from it could be misled or incorrect. In this case he got his info from a children’s movie. I’m glad he shares in my joy for the story of Peter Pan. He has been waiting to watch the (2003) Peter Pan movie for the past couple of days and in his anticipation has made reference to it by means of thimbles and putting on a pirate hat and running around the house with a hanger in his hand. It has been quite the adventure. After all, “To live will be an awfully big adventure.”
