So this past week I haven't written because a) I switched to a new blog site and b) I've been away to Sanibel Island. I wouldn't have dreamed of going to such a place for vacation. A shell laden beach was only something I saw on the travel channel or spa commercials. But it really happened. God blessed me with the very thing I needed. I walked along the sand bar for only Lord knows how long and far, and I was sharing the company of a Christ centered family. It was a true vacation. And even though the ocean and beach brought much bliss I also found much joy in the small occurrences and stories. One of such occurrences is a quote from the oldest of the children I'm watching this summer. Rather than set up the scene I wish to lay it on you so you may hear it as I did.
"It looks rather lonely without it's color."
We had been talking about seashells and the difference in washing them with salt water vs fresh water. Now, as an art student, this statement struck a chord in me. I began thinking of the many different levels of symbolism which could be paired with the statement. One prominent correlation being it, a man, without it's color, fellowship or companionship. Because the color would have to be something that without it would cause loneliness. Thus, I began to imagine a man who had lost love, found God, and so gained friendship and everlasting love. Of course this all happens in a two second time span and the only thing I said to my little cousin was "Hahaha, that was cute! Can I write that down and use it?" Confused but happy she said yes and wrote it down on a paper-towel for me.
I feel it is simply wonderful the way imagination pops at points of inspiration, and all we have to do is say thank you as we move on with our day. Thank you God. Until I have time to write of the other occurrences I hope the best for you.
